Dewey (the cat)

This blog link links to another blog post. If you’re reading this than the interview was of Dewey. He honestly thinks I’m too low in his standards so he ignores me. Cat’s are so odd!

Dewey (our cat) is really silly about where he sleeps/lays. I know a lot of cats have weird sleeping/laying places so this post will be about cat’s sleeping/laying habits!

Let’s get started!

Now some pictures of other cats and their sleeping/laying places! (note: I just got these next photos from google).

Just to let you all know I love dogs!!! Animals of all kinds really…but cats they just stare at you and never change their expression. Either way, cats are funny when they play and sleep!

See you all soon!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

A short post just to tell you all Merry Christmas!! Every year for Christmas Eve, my family goes to our Christmas Eve service at my church. It is amazing and beautiful.  Then we go home to watch a Christmas movie (this year it’s The Nativity) – and we have a little bit of eggnog! Anyways Merry Christmas everyone ❤

Luke 2: 1 – 20:
Now in those days, a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. 2 This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. 4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, 5 in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. 6 While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and she wrapped Him in cloths and laid Him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn.

8 In the same region, there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terribly frightened. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; 11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

15 When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, “Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger. 17 When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.

Matthew 2: 1 – 12:

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, 2 “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.” 3 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet:
6 ‘And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah,
Are by no means least among the leaders of Judah;
For out of you shall come forth a Ruler
Who will shepherd My people Israel.’”

7 Then Herod secretly called the magi and determined from them the exact time the star appeared. 8 And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him.” 9 After hearing the king, they went their way; and the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. 11 After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother, and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. 12 And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas Themed Pictures!

Welcome back!
I know this is more posts then I do in a month but I thought I’d share some winter-themed photos with you today! The first three photos are also for a contest!
Photos of us cutting down our Christmas tree!

Christmas is probably my favorite holiday! Why? Not because of the presents, not because of the yummy food, not because of the movies, but getting together, decorating the house, and spending time together as a family! I can’t wait for my family to decorate the tree!! We cut out A LOT of snowflakes, make Christmas mangers scenes, and make fun decorations for the Christmas tree so in years to come we can remember the past years we did those things together! Don’t get me wrong; I love yummy food, Christmas movies, and presents! But I really love my family getting together!

And so as Tiny Tim said (in “A Christmas Carol”) A Merry Christmas to us all and
God bless us, everyone.

Making a Christmas Manger!

Hi! Welcome back! So today I made a manger scene. It turned out well! My mom LOVES manger scenes, so I made one for her, and I’m going to make more for Christmas presents!

Let’s get started!

I assembled five pairs of 22 toothpicks, five pairs of 3 toothpicks, and two pairs of 4 toothpicks. I also used three craft sticks. Don’t forget the glitter (my mom dislikes glitter A LOT)!! Also, hot glue sticks!

Take one of the packs of 22 toothpicks and line them up. Next, take one of the packs of 3 toothpicks and glue them to the line of 22 toothpicks…that made sense right? Continue till you use up all of the packs of 22 and packs of 3 toothpicks.
Glue the packs of 22 toothpicks (that you had put together earlier).
Glue two craft sticks on the bottom of the barn…unless you’re positive your toothpicks are straight and won’t bend at odd angles.
Trim down three toothpicks to attach to the inside of the barn floor (you’ll see what they’re used for in a bit).
While the barn’s “floor” is drying, cut two toothpicks in half, then glue the two pieces together to make an X, then cut two more toothpicks into thirds attaching them to both X’s to form a manger. Take a white cotton ball and cut it in half and glue it down to the manger.
To make Jesus, Joseph, and Mary: Sprinkle gold glitter on a paper towel, cut a toothpick in fourths and fold those pieces together. Put glue on it and roll in the glitter…to form a baby Jesus (yeah it might sound weird but its cute from far away).  For Joseph and Mary, cut a craft stick to make Joseph, cut a smaller piece for Mary.  Roll “Joseph” in blue glitter and “Mary” in reddish/brown glitter. Just like the “baby Jesus” (it might seem weird up close but it’s cute in the barn). Glue small leftover craft sticks to the bottom of Joseph and Mary so they can stand on their own.
Optional: Make a star to attach to the top of the manger scene. Cut two toothpicks in half and glue to make an eight-point star. Roll in whitish/gray glitter. Glue to the top of the manger.

And there you have it! A small cute manger for a Christmas present idea or a tree ornament!

Merry Christmas!!

Mint capped brownie cookie cups

Welcome back!! So yesterday my sisters and I decorated for Christmas (or started to). Anyways I made Mint Capped Brownie Cookie Cups for us to snack on while we worked on snowflakes and other decorations. The cookie cups turned out really well…so I thought I’d share the recipe with you all! Recipe for wet ingredients:
2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1-1/4 cups granulated sugar
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs

Directions for wet ingredients:
First heat oven to 350*F. Line 48 small muffin cups (1-3/4 inches in diameter) with paper or foil baking cups (unfortunately I didn’t have baking cups so I just sprayed the pan really well). Next beat butter, granulated sugar, water, and vanilla in large bowl on medium speed of mixer until well blended. Add eggs; beat well.

With another bowl mix dry ingredients:
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup Hershey’s Cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Directions for dry ingredients:
Stir together flour, cocoa, salt, and baking soda. Gradually add to sugar mixture, beating on low speed just until blended. If necessary, refrigerate dough until firm enough to handle. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; place in prepared muffin cups. Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until cookie surface is set. Cookies will appear soft and moist.  Do not over-bake. Cool about 5 minutes on wire rack. Press chocolate piece into the surface of each cookie cup. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.

They turned out really well!!
Comment and tell me what you think about them!!

See you next time!
