Well, I just read her book Beyond the Horizon, it was…amazing! I know some of the blogs and people I know don’t like stories that have people falling in love with them (so please forgive me)!
About the book: Eliana longs to see the world beyond the mountains that tower above Salzburg, Austria, but knows that dream will never see such adventure- and neither will she. Surrounded by a world of cruelty, she lives for the weekly visits of Aron, a boy she met on one of her rambles through the countryside. But as the years pass and she begins to grow older, a new and unwelcome world is opened up to her. On a fateful night at a party she vowed she’d never attend, she comes face to face with a shocking truth. As the world around her teeters on the brink of war, Eliana struggles to figure out just where her loyalty lies; a decision that will drastically change the course of her life. Will she ever be free to see what lies beyond the horizon?
I’d rate this book 5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!! And any age could read it in my opinion. The book is set in a Christmas Cinderella/WWII setting which makes it awesome! It was an amazing read though way too short ‘cries’. I love long books so seeing the length of this book made me kinda sad…but the plot made up for it!!! I’ve never been really into Cinderella stories cause they are all the same and make me kinda annoyed at the Prince…but the way Jesseca wrote the book made me so excited and happy! I was also really sad about what was going on but you know…it’s WWII, it’s not supposed to leave you with that ‘let’s drink hot cocoa around the fire and sing Kumbaya’ feeling. Either way please check it out if you like Cinderella/WWII stories!
Hey guys! So on the LOONNNGG car trip, I was able to go through some old pictures we took of Winnie, edit some of them and here I am to share them with you!
Her first bath!
She’s like “why are you washing off all my good smells”??!!
No we aren’t choking her…
Such big paws you have!
We buy her all these toys…and she likes sticks better!!
Such a cutie!
Update on Winnie: She is just about 6 months old!!! Two more days 🙂 🙂 Her growing has slowed down so I’m thinking she’ll stay around 40 – 50 pounds…which I don’t mind at all! She has been super active and adventurous! We recently left her with a friend for a few days and the report was that Winnie didn’t get into anything, had no accidents, and was super quiet in the mornings. I’ve also decided to set aside making her a service dog until I know for sure she won’t bark in public. I know every dog wants to bark sometime in their life and Winnie just finds joy in barking at everything! So hopefully we can break that soon!
Now a few random pictures!
A cute little bird I found
Winnie learning how to drive *screams in terror*
And that’s it for this post! See you all Saturday 🙂
Hi guys! Sorry about not posting Saturday/Sunday. So let’s start with an update of what I’ve been up to the past two weeks……….
Going to camp with my sister……I know I did tell people I would never go to a summer camp again……but I thought it’d be “different” this time. Well, it wasn’t! It was kinda worse than my other camp experience! Here’s a picture from that! Also one of the games required me having to clap 600 hundred times…….if you don’t know what that feels like, try it sometime (let me know what it felt like to you)!
So after that, we had a few days at home and at that time our church had VBS (Vacation Bible School). We were only able to help one day but the theme was Ranch farm-themed which was super fun dressing up for that! I really love how this picture of my mom and I turned out 🙂
And a few days after that we were off for a LONG trip! Okay, it wasn’t long…..it was actually just a few days but we drove A LOT! Here are a few pictures from that:
On the way home from there, we stopped by this restaurant…I don’t usually like mentioning names and bringing places down…….but DO NOT go to Ryan’s!
My family went there super hungry. They didn’t tell us the A/C wasn’t working so it was 85 in there. It smelled like spoiled milk and the food was nasty, dirty, and the veggies were frozen (how they could be frozen in 85 degrees idk). Either way guys we left feeling super sick (thankfully we didn’t get food poisoning…kinda)
So now that we’re up to date with the stuff I’ve been up to…we are now back to posting on Wednesday’s and Saturdays! This post was going to come out yesterday but I got some sort of stomach bug (or aftermath from Ryan’s who knows) and I literally couldn’t do anything. Anywho, I’m super excited to share with you updates about Winnie and some more pictures of this awesome summer we’ve been having!
See you guys Wednesday 🙂
What have you been up to this Summer? Let’s chat in the comments!
Hi guys! I’m back!!! Wow, has the Summer been flying by to you or is it just me??! I’ll be sharing some photos of what I’ve been up to…probably in my next post! My posting times are still Wednesday’s and Saturday’s but I will be posting Sunday as I can’t be here on Saturday. Alrighty today I’m back with another fun book review! I’m super excited about this one as The Night Archers was an amazing read and I totally recommend it. Also, there is another book to this series (book 1 The Twin Arrows). It also looks amazing so please go check them both out!
About The Night Archers: A failed test. Ruined crops. Night archers.
The war against the rebels rages, and Riverside’s famous cavalry is called to the King’s aid, leaving behind the women, children, and Gavynn.
Gavynn knows why he was the only man left behind. Every day in the town is a painful reminder. But storms, sickness, and sudden danger threaten his people, forcing him into an unexpected role.
Could his failure be a blessing in disguise?
About the author: Kate Willis (you can find her blog here: https://onceuponanordinary.wordpress.com) has been homeschooled her whole life in a loving family that values the Gospel of Jesus Christ, creativity, and thoughtful conversations. She is inspired by red shoes, a good story, little children, and chai tea. It is her desire to serve God in the home having a family of her own in the future. She is the author of Kiera, The Twin Arrows, and The Treasure Hunt, as well as numerous short stories.
My Review: This book was well written and didn’t leave me with an annoying feeling that often happens when someone adds on to a book and makes a second part. I was able to read it in one sitting so it is a short book…and I don’t usually like short books but this one had so much action packed in it I didn’t mind. Of course, I have a favorite character but I shall not ruin the book for you all! So go check out the book and let me know what you think of it!
Hey guys!! So I know I said I wasn’t going to post for a while, but to be honest…I LOVE posting! I really love sharing my pictures, life, lessons I’ve learned, and baking! So anyways today is Independence Day (aka fourth of July)!!!!
Why we celebrate Independence Day: The Fourth of July—also known as Independence Day or July 4th—has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with festivities ranging from fireworks, parades and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues.
So, to be honest, we don’t usually do the whole fireworks & parades thing but we do have a cook-out and watch *gasp* Gettysburg. “Why Gettysburg,” you ask. Well, honestly this has been a tradition since the beginning of time for my family! Every year we sit down and watch the whole thing….actually a certain family member ALWAYS falls asleep right before the main battles! And just last year this person stayed awake the whole time…..and was astonished to find the movie has some action in the end (I do NOT fall asleep during this movie…I live for historical war movies……..I shall sleep when I’m dead, jk). But seriously Gettysburg doesn’t really have anything to do with the 4th. The reason we watch it is simple…1. It’s a historical battle(s) that happens near July 4th. 2. It’s hard to find an Independence movie that’s family friendly and 99.9% historically accurate.
So this year I made a yummy pie for breakfast! My sibling actually found this recipe and shared it with me so thanks, bro! It’s called Old Glory Berry Pie and you can find the recipe by clicking here. Honestly, it was super easy to make and it turned out pretty good in my opinion!
This just makes me sad…
I’m starting to get a little happier…
So please let me know what you think of this! It took me about 25 minutes top to put it together and FOREVER to bake! I personally think it was worth it…but that’s just me!
And that’s it! And I truly mean it this time…..I shall be back in a few weeks!!
