Hey guys! Beka here with some pictures of when I started riding to now! I can’t wait to show you, because it took a lot of effort to get where I’m at with riding and I have so much fun doing so!
Some things I learned! It’s not going to be like a Hallmark movie where you jump on the horse and ride off into the sunset. I got on a horse and it felt like forever learning how to post, control the horse, and basically not make a fool out of myself. By the 5th lesson I was finally walking around riding the horse with the trainer holding the lead.
I eventually felt more confident and progressed more. I switched horses about 8 months in and started learning to jump! Jumping is one of my favorites but it’s still a constant struggle to have posture, balance, and confidence.
I’m still learning and having fun! It may not be for everyone but its a great way to get exercise and be around some pretty cool animals!
Special thanks to my favorite guys in my life, Blaze and Jimmy. Such wonderful horses and so much fun to be outside with you both!
Also special thanks to my trainer for being such an awesome teacher and always being patient. Without you I would be sitting on the couch eating cheetos
See ya soon guys! ❤

Hey guys! So school started for me a few weeks back, and let’s just say it’s been “interesting”. First day of school for me was kicked off by a 3 day trip to a camp for activities, Bible study, and white water rafting. Here’s a few pictures from that!
First day of school…wow, it was definitely hard. All of them didn’t know me so it definitely took a toll on my mental state. After a few days (weeks actually) I’ve made some friends and am adjusting to my subjects.
So everyone in my grade is required to do a leadership class…just saying, it’s INCREDIBLY difficult. The challenge above really showed leadership as we all had to just let a few people lead and not everyone at once. The teacher showed grace to us and allowed us to try again a second day as we failed the first time.
So my subjects I’m taking in school are:
Old Testament Bible
What are you doing for school? Let’s chat in the comments!
Hey guys! 19 years ago the United States experienced one of the scariest moments in history.
On September 11, 2001 at 8:45am an American Airlines Boeing 767 crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center. The impact immediately left a huge hole on the 80th floor leaving hundreds dead and trapped on the higher floor levels. Instantly people fled the building, running in all directions as firetrucks, ambulances, and police quickly got to the scene…..18 minutes later United Airlines Flight 175 appeared out of the sky and crashed into the 60th floor of the south World Trade Center.
In less then 20 minutes it became clear that America was under attack.
As millions of people turned on their tv’s, called their loved ones, and cried for someone to stop this terror; American Airlines Flight 77 circled over downtown Washington D.C., before crashing into the west side of the Pentagon military headquarters at 9:45am.
Less than 15 minutes after the attack on the military headquarters the south tower of the World Trade Center collapsed. Then at 10:30am the once beautiful north tower built to withstand winds and even a large conventional fire could not hold against the burning jet fuel filling the building. Now only 6 people are alive in this rubble of fire, fuel, twisted metal, and debris.
Meanwhile United Flight 93 was fighting to protect their country. When four hijackers took over the flight the passengers hearing about the twin towers and Pentagon were determined to not let the hijackers get their own way. Well knowing they would all die, they called their loved ones and then attacked the hijackers, pouring boiling water on them and attacking the cockpit with a fire extinguisher. The flight filled with 44 people crashed in a rural field near Shanksville in western Pennsylvania. The hijackers target is unknown but even though we may never know, those passengers on that flight showed true heroism.
A total of 2,996 people were killed in the 9/11 attacks; the World Trade Center, 2,763 died after the two planes slammed into the twin towers. That figure includes 343 firefighters and paramedics, 23 New York City police officers and 37 Port Authority police officers.
At the Pentagon, 189 people were killed, including 64 on American Airlines Flight 77, the airliner that struck the building. On Flight 93, 44 people died when the plane crash-landed in Pennsylvania.
September 11th, 2012…the attack on Benghazi commenced. At 9:45pm armed men began their assault on the US mission. A battle commence killing U.S Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith and two CIA operatives Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, both former Navy SEALs.
Benghazi might not be as well known but the attack made it clear that the US should not be tampered with. I’m proud to be an American and saddened to read and write about these terrible events that happened.
Check out the 19 years later blog tour that Life of Heritage and Soldier Girl Stories are heading up! It’s in honor of 9/11 and Benghazi, and I’m so excited I could be apart of it!
Hey guys! At the moment I’m trying to switch my WordPress account to its normal editor but right now I’m going to post from my phone!
This past week school started and I noticed quickly that it’d be nice to have a desk to do my school work on…So I went to dad and drew up a plan! Here’s the process and end result. I really love how it turned out….
We cut the top of the desk 42″ long and I think 26″ wide. We wanted to really work on making them all line up and be almost seamless.
We glued them together and held them together with pressure. We let that set for a day.
We then found 2×4’s in the scrap pile and trimmed them up. We glued and screwed them together to start forming the base of the desk.
My dad had the genius idea to drill them on a curve so we could put it together more seamlessly. It turned out super lightweight and sturdy.
We trimmed the ends (we also ended up cutting down the legs to shorten the desk), and also used a router to give the top of the desk a soft edge. It honestly turned out amazing!!
We decided to stain it to match my room better! We had a ton of old stains that we could use so we stained a piece of leftover wood from the desk and above you can see all the different stains.
We ended up using the stain walnut because I just loved the color and what it did to the grain of the wood!!
We decided to put a seal of polyurethane on it. We applied it with a foam brush at first but it gave the table a super bumpy feel so we lightly sanded it and used a brush to give it a final coat of polyurethane.
I ended up wrapping warm fairy lights from amazon around the legs of the desk so it really gives an extra cool factor.
Now let’s talk cost. The desk materials cost:
Wood: free we had to laying around
Stain: free we had it laying around and needed used up
Polyurethane: $15.00 (and we still have more for other projects).
Foam brushes: $2.00
Brush: free had it laying around
All in all the project was super simple and easy. I absolutely love how the desk turned out! What do you think?
