Hi guys, Beka here! During this time of year, our hair tends to be dry and frizzy due to humidity and swimming in chlorinated pools.
So here are some tips to keep your hair healthy!
Tip 1: Try to only shampoo 3-4 times a week depending on hair type. Every time you shampoo you strip your hair of the natural oils that help your hair look shiny and new!
Tip 2: After swimming, rinse your hair out with luke-warm water as soon as you can. This helps rinse out the chlorine that damages your hair!
Tip 3: Vinegar rinses. Vinegar rinses are super great for your hair. It helps balance the Ph in your scalp which is necessary for your hair! It also helps remove dandruff that causes the itchy feeling you sometimes have! –vinegar hair rinse DIY to come!
Tip 4: Avoid using flatirons, curling irons, and blow dryers. After getting out of the shower 15 minutes before leaving for an important event with soaking wet hair you feel the need to grab that blow dryer and fix it up. BUT using unnatural heat on your hair can hurt it over a long period of time. Making it look burnt, dry, or frizzy (same with any other heating tools for hair). So maybe plan a few extra minutes for your hair drying time!
Tip 5: Protect that hair while sleeping! This may seem silly but when you sleep your hair is under so much breakage. And if you move a lot while sleeping *cough* like me, this is definitely something to try! Before you go to bed, put your hair in a loose bun at the top of your head or a braid at the side. It’ll protect your hair and maybe give you some wavy curls in the morning!
Tip 6: Wear a hat! If you have really blonde hair or a sensitive scalp…it can cause hair breakage if you let the sunshine on it for too long! If you have darker hair colors…such as brown or black hair it’s not completely necessary.
