~ Answer the questions!

~ Have FUN!!!!

THE QUESTIONS (Julia’s questions are in bold):

  1. How old are you turning? You’ll have to refer back to my recent blog post “It’s my Birthday Month” to figure it out!
  2. What’s your favorite thing about Birthdays? I’d have to say just being with my family and doing fun things together or just talking about old times!
  3. What’s your favorite Birthday meal? We had shrimp fettuccine my sister made…I LOVE shrimp!
  4. Favorite Birthday Dessert? We make ice cream cake for our birthdays! It’s soooo good!
  5. What’s your favorite Birthday memory? I don’t remember the date but we just played games all day and spent a lot of time just hanging out together! It was awesome!
  6. Worst Birthday memory? On my 14th birthday, I had the stomach flu…yuck! Oh, or the time I went coyote hunting two days before my birthday and I was watching two dogs that woke me up at 4am every morning…after I had hunted till 2am!
  7. If you could do ANYTHING on your Birthday, what would you do? Swim or skydive (I mean they aren’t that much different…lol)
  8. If you could get anything for a gift, what would you ask for? Another dog!!!
  9. What’s your favorite Birthday gift you’ve ever gotten? Either a bike or this book series my brother gets me every year!
  10. What does a typical Birthday day look like for you? My family just hanging out and doing things together…watching movies, playing games, doing puzzles, etc..
  11. What are your plans for today? Just being together and watching a movie, playing a few games, and talking!
  12. Any plans for the future?  What do you want to do (as in career, etc)? I couldn’t decide between being a house designer, landscaper, military, or police officer (it really bugs me when people speed or don’t have their lights on, on a foggy day)!
  13. Choose three B-day resolutions! To be better at cleaning up, be less stubborn, and read more!
  14. How do you want to see God work in your life? I guess I’d have to say I want Him to continue to keep me going and to make my faith stronger!

Below are the photos from my birthday!

Lighting candles!
So pretty!
Going for the reflection in my glasses!
Cookies and Cream ice cream cake with fudge and Oreos!
Starting a 300 piece puzzel I received
Finished puzzle two hours later!

And that’s the end of this post! See you next time!

It’s my Birthday Month!

Hi guys! I just had to do a quick post and tell you guys it’s my birthday month!!! I’ve been counting the days!!! And you’ll never guess what I asked for………….an electric toothbrush, new radio with a CD player for our family because the old one is skipping, an adapter for my headphones, and a new book!  I’m super excited!!!! This year we’re just staying home and watching movies, playing games (monopoly), and eating a yummy homemade ice cream cake…pictures to come later!!! Let’s do a quick recap of my past birthdays:

<>< On my 14th birthday, I really wanted to go to this cool cabin for a few days so we did! Unfortunately, two days before we left I got the stomach flu so I spent my birthday really sick (that isn’t the photo we took because the weather was really rainy)!

<>< On my 13th birthday, my parents took me out to eat and I got my promise ring! So fun, (it’s this cute dog bone)!

<>< My 12th birthday we watched all “The Kettles”(very cheesy) we spent pretty much the whole day watching them and I had ice cream cake but it was so frozen my dad was actually considering getting the chainsaw out!

My 11th birthday was spent in my grandparent’s basement because we were building our house and it wasn’t done yet!

<>< My 10th birthday was spent bowling! Which was really fun…they gave me this cool bowling pin that said Happy Birthday!

<>< On my 9th birthday we had a colonial tea party (I made this fun colonial dress…almost all by myself…thanks Mrs. Z.)!

On my 8th birthday my dad built this amazing hay maze which was awesome but the day he showed it to me (the day before my birthday), I had gotten a cavity drilled and I also received a really amazing bike to replace the one I was afraid to ride after I hurt my arm on my other hand-me-down bike. I find it very funny that the most painful memories are the ones we remember the best!

And I’m sure you’re wondering what I did on my 7th, 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st…well I can’t remember! I had to ask my family members about the last 5 birthdays (my memory is fried) all I know is that I turned 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 in the time I don’t remember…its amazing that I know that much!

A few facts about me (the real me behind the blog hahaha ‘evil laugh’).

  • I have an evil laugh! If you’ve ever watched “The Wizard of Oz” my laugh sounds like that little creepy witch!
  • I’m afraid of stink bugs
  • I’ve accidentally deleted the sound off my computer (if that’s possible let me know…)
  • I’m OCD about dirty glasses (aka the glasses you wear) and windows
  • I hate carrots, squash, beets, olives, and coffee
  • I do everything fast and usually break things or get machines stuck (who knew you could get a mower stuck 10 times in one day…thanks dad)!

Okay! That’s enough annoying facts about me!

See you guys soon!!!!

Hey guys! So I have a choir performance coming up 23 days!!!! I could really use prayer as there are so many songs I still need to memorize! I thought I’d just tell you guys about my choir and the songs we’ll be singing! Here’s the list of songs:

– Suscepit Isreal (Johann Sebastian Bach) – sorta memorized

Whenever the Wind is High (Todd McNeal) – sorta memorized

Szellö Zúg (Dr. Márkus Miklós) – not memorized

I Went to the Market (Donald Patriquin) – sorta memorized

Stars (Sara Teasdale) – sorta memorized

I’se the B’y (John E. Govedas) – memorized

The Blooming Bright Star of Belle Isle (Eleanor Daley) – memorized

Sing Creations Music On (Stephen Paulus) – memorized

The Arrow and the Song (Christopher Matthews) – sorta memorized

We get these fun dresses that are so fun and cool! The guys get to wear boring blue vests with white long sleeved dress-shirts (they’re only lucky because they get built in sweaters practically)! So here two pictures of the cool dress/uniform thing!

Thanks to my little sis for taking the photos!

Let me know which is your favorite song! I’d say “Stars” or “Sing Creations Music On”. Let me know in the comments!

Muffin madness

What’s your favorite kind of muffin? Is it blueberry, strawberry, blackberry or maybe even raspberry? What about a muffin with all those yummy fruits in it!!??

Once or twice a month I make muffins to take to church for the small coffee corner we have there! Today I’m sharing with you the recipe I use and some of the pictures of the process.

2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2/3 cup milk
1/4 cooking oil
1 cup of your favorite kind of frozen fruit

1. Preheat the oven to 400*F. Combine the sifted flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in one of the mixing bowls. Stir until well blended.

2. Beat the eggs, milk, and oil together with a fork.

3. Dump the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir five times. Add the berries and stir until just combined. The batter should be clumpy and lumpy. For real. If it’s smooth, your finished muffins will be dense. (Yuck.)

4. Fill the cups of the muffin tin two-thirds of the way full, and bake 20 to 25 minutes. The baked muffins will come out of the pan more easily if you let them cool for a few minutes first.
Okay, okay so I don’t follow the recipe exactly. I do it a bit differently. I don’t put the berries in the batter I put them in the greased pan and then put that batter on top of them. It keeps the batter from turning purple or red. I also use a muffin pan smaller then the recipe calls for so that the muffins are easier to eat. When using the smaller pan, I cut back the baking time to about 10 – 12 minutes.

Note: Make sure you wipe up the batter that leaked over the side of the muffin pan, so it doesn’t burn (I don’t have a picture of after I wiped mine up)
They turned out really well!!! Comment and tell me if you might consider using the recipe!See you soon!
